Ever wondered what radio producers actually do?!
I’ve been lucky enough to work in radio for decades and I’m still fascinated by the skills that are required to do this job, as is my friend and colleague Mark Jeeves. He’s the Exec Producer at Scala Radio and in our spare time we’ve been chatting to some lovely creative, experienced and passionate radio producers to find out more about their careers.
Re:Producer is a podcast series celebrating the art of making radio. Putting some of the industry’s finest production talent under the spotlight, each episode is a relaxed conversation with a former or current radio producer about their journey into and within this industry, reflecting on how it’s changed over the years and how the role of the producer has had to adapt as a result. The guests share the advice they would give to aspiring producers, their biggest personal successes, the shows they love and what they think radio will look – and sound – like in the future.
We don’t ask guests to name and shame difficult ‘talent’, nor is this solely a gossip-fest for insiders, but rather a celebration of the all-too-often unsung individuals who have one of the most creative, varied, occasionally frustrating but ultimately rewarding jobs in media!
So, if you love radio, either as a listener or as an aspiring producer, give Re: Producer a go! You can find us on Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube.
We’re releasing 4 episodes a fortnight and the first set is available to listen to now, with the following guests:
