Not long to go now until Mark Kermode’s Surround Sound: The Stories of Movie Music is available to buy in all good bookshops. It’s out on Thursday 11th September and you can pre-order it now!
I can’t quite believe we’re nearly at the point when I’ll get to see copies on shelves. It’s existed as numerous word documents and PDFs for so long, it’ll be a strange (but, I’m sure, wonderful) experience to actually witness it out in the wild.
Mark and I will be hosting a series of events around the launch, when we’ll chat about how we wrote the book together, what it’s about (clue: film music), what we learnt from our interviews with composers, and what we’d like readers to get from it. The lovely marketing team at Picador has created this handy list of some of the tour dates (yes, I’m calling it a tour):

The Edinburgh International Book Festival talk is sold out and tickets are not yet available for the events at the BFI or Cheltenham Literature Festival but here are links to the others:
London – Tuesday 9th September (in association with Waterstones Piccadilly)
Bath – Wednesday 10th September
Monmouth – Thursday 11th September
Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival – Friday 19th September
We’re also going to be at Aesthetica Film Festival in York on Friday 7th November – book tickets here!
There are more dates to announce soon so keep an eye on here and I’ll post info/links when they’re up and running.
Finally, I have an excuse to buy some new outfits…
